As a result, they refused to perform the required gearbox spring replacement and lubrication remedy free of charge.  Because this is a known, verified manufacturing flaw involving the annealing process and excessive spring preload of the Hitachi Astemo steering gearboxes, the fact that my VIN was omitted from the initial campaign does not absolve American Honda of its liability to repair a dangerous vehicle defect.  Driving this vehicle is a severe hazard to myself and others on the road. I request that American Honda immediately issue a corporate goodwill authorization to my local dealer to replace or repair the steering gearbox assembly according to the recall technical service bulletin specifications.  Please contact me within 3 business days to establish a case number and coordinate the scheduling of this vital safety repair.
