The dealership diagnosed the issue as an internal electrical/mechanical failure of the shifter assembly and cited \"sticky residue\" near the center console as the cause, subsequently denying warranty coverage. This design places highly sensitive, non-sealed electrical shifter components directly adjacent to the center console cup holders. Under normal, foreseeable cabin use, any minor environmental moisture or fluid proximity causes immediate, catastrophic failure of the shifting mechanism. This is a severe safety hazard as it can leave the vehicle abruptly stranded in active traffic, prevent the driver from placing the vehicle into 'Park' securely, or trap occupants in an unsafe location without the ability to move the vehicle out of harm's way. Nissan has previously acknowledged this exact vulnerability in earlier model years under Technical Service Bulletin NTB21-069A (which explicitly covered shifter replacement even with liquid intrusion), demonstrating that the underlying component design remains fundamentally flawed and unsafe for standard automotive environments.","products":[{"type":"Vehicle","productYear":"2024","productMake":"NISSAN","productModel":"ROGUE","manufacturer":"Nissan North America, Inc."}]}]}
