SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260415-98D2C-2147320560. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Product: INMOTION E20 (Electric self-balancing unicycle designed for recreational use, primarily marketed for beginners and children. The product operates using a single motorized wheel with dynamic balance control. It includes audible warning alerts and tilt-back mechanisms intended to prevent unsafe riding conditions. The device is battery powered and controlled via a mobile application. At the time of the incident, the battery level was approximately 50 percent and the device was functioning normally prior to the sudden shutdown. A critical safety concern is that under certain conditions, the device can abruptly shut down while in motion, which immediately removes balancing capability and results in a fall.). Incident: Product: INMOTION E20 Electric Unicycle An abrupt shutdown occurred while my 8 year old son was riding the device on a slight downhill residential street. Prior to the shutdown, the device emitted warning beeps. However, before the rider had sufficient time to safely decelerate, the unit shut down completely. Because this is a self balancing device, the sudden loss of power resulted in an immediate and unavoidable loss of balance, causing a fall and physical injury. The device had sufficient battery at the time, approximately 50 percent, and there were no modifications or abnormal usage conditions beyond normal residential riding. The incident was witnessed by two children, and photos and app data were captured immediately afterward without any modification to the device. Manufacturer Response: The manufacturer reviewed diagnostic logs and stated in writing that abrupt shutdown under certain conditions such as overload or overspeed is expected behavior and part of the system protection logic. Safety Concern: For a self balancing device, an abrupt shutdown directly causes a fall and creates a foreseeable injury risk
