SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130911-36F6D-2147452103. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Acer Aspire one Aspire One 533-13870 (Acer Aspire One Notebook computer). Incident: Last night my acer notebook started smoking and burst into flames.. it was unplugged and not in sleeper mode and was turned off and hadn't been used in two days.. i threw it outside where it reacted with the wet grass and of course that made the fire worse and then it started exploding and sending little rockets all over the yard.. i couldn't get to the water hose for fear of getting hit.very scary event!!. i am so glad i was home at the time.. Currently -after having a terrible time getting a customer service person, i called a lady in texas who was of big help.. She has photos that i took and is advising me to send product to burnaby in BC for invesitgating.. its a 2010 model and there was no reason on earth why it did this.. it was on a glass table top, not touching anything.. makes no sense. I am waiting for them to tell me it was my fault somehow.. clearly it could have deadly consequences for someone and this should be addressed and explained ..
