Incident: First, I would like to say that with each passing day both property and people are at risk charging their Amazon Kindle. I am very concerned and feel that there should be an immediate recall on the Kindle power cord (cable) manufactured for my device, the 2nd generation keyboard, at least this is what the Amazon customer rep called my device. I called Amazon to notify them of the scary incident we experiened, and they offerred to replace the power adapter/charger. I explained that this was not the true purpose of my call and continued to explain the following incident. I urged them to recall the cord immediately in order to prevent electrocution,shock, and fire that could cause loss of life and property as well. They told me that this is the first they had heard of this but would send my concerns to some team at Amazon. I later went online and googled kindle power cord defective, or recall or somthing similar to these words. I was taken to Amazon where comments were posted and replacement cords were for sale. There were many comments stating similar experiences to ours concerning the cable. Amazon had to have known about this problem because others have alredy contacted them and posted comments. The reps I spoke with previously did not hesitate to offer to replace the cord but wanted to charge me for shipping. I now believe they were aware of the problem.
