SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260803-AB702-2147312960. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Ferosticker K180-5 (FEROSTICKER F01 automatic fire extinguisher a compact, self-contained aerosol fire suppression device with no wiring, power, or maintenance requirement. Sold for automatic fire protection inside small enclosed spaces including electrical cabinets, vehicles, and 3D printers. Mounts by adhesive backing or self-tapping screws. Manufacturer specifications, from the instruction leaflet supplied in the packaging: Designation: FEROSTICKER F01 Rated for fire classes A, B, C, E, F). Incident: On August 2, 2026, a fire started inside the enclosed chamber of a [REDACTED] 3D printer during a laser cutting operation at my home in Oak Park, Illinois. Installed inside that chamber was a FEROSTICKER F01 automatic fire extinguisher (item model number K180-5), purchased new through Amazon.com on July 23, 2026 ten days before the incident. The device was installed following the manufacturer's published guidance: secured by its supplied adhesive to a clean, flat surface at the top of the enclosed area, positioned above the fire risk area, with its discharge nozzle unobstructed and no modification to the device. The chamber volume is 2.99 cubic feet, within the F01's rated coverage of 3.53 cubic feet. The manufacturer's instruction leaflet specifies activation at 170C 10C "or open flame." I was present in the room for the duration of the job. Open flame was in direct physical contact with the FEROSTICKER housing. I observed this directly. The device did not activate. No aerosol or suppressant discharged at any point, and the unit remains in an undischarged state. I extinguished the fire manually. No one was injured. Damage: the printer is a total loss. Interior components including linear guide rails, timing belts, cable chain, and the exhaust assembly were destroyed by molten material, and the upper chamber structure is deformed.
