Government / agencyIndexed Oct 16, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250218-BAED6-2147333096. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Rayovac Loud N Clear 675CR-6LNCUS (675 HP hearing aid batteries, I get them in bulk from the VA). Incident: The new cold resistant packaging on button cell/heating aid batteries is dangerous, most of us are elderly, these are actually people resistant packaging, not just children. They are next to impossible to open, having to use scissors with force that most of us dont have at our age, and if we manage to get them open without injury then the batteries and sharp plastic ages go flying across the room on the floor or under the furniture, defeating the purpose since I cant get down there to find them. Most of my friends as well as myself have started getting people to just open them all in bulk and store them in a box or [REDACTED] until needed, also defeating your failed intent, please go back to the original packaging and give us benefit of the doubt that we will keep them out of reach of kids and pets most kids and pets dont get a hold of the batteries until they are opened anyhow or during battery change so this is pointless
