Built-in controller / MCU failure with short near MCU

MCU / left joystick board controller electronics

While playing, ROG Ally built-in controls suddenly died—no buttons, sticks, RGB, or power LED (charge LED still works). Touchscreen and volume still work across Windows and SteamOS; Armoury Crate shows an embedded-controller error and MCU updater fails. Owner later found a hot/shorted area next to the MCU chip on the left joystick board after probing voltages.

No power / no charge (suspected motherboard)

Motherboard / charging circuit

24 months

ROG Ally about two years old stopped charging and powering on two months after warranty expired. Charging light never came on with multiple chargers and button-combo resets; reseating the battery did nothing. Owner asked whether repair or buying a new unit was cheaper.
