SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260316-A94C7-2147322612. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Hoteam AY-Hoteam-1177 (Sold by Amazon as: "Hoteam 10 Pcs Power Strip Bulk 6 Outlet Surge Protector Power Cord Electrical Extension Cord with Switch Low Profile Plug Flat for Home Office(4 ft,White)" NO UL label, NO CEC or Intertek label, no QC check by vendor label, no clearly recognizable serial or model numbers, the Amazon description says copper product, only the power cord has copper in it. The bus bars are thin brass. There are no ways to verify if the device does trigger a breaker at 15A, the item that triggered my submission for a product recall had hot wire unconnected and dangling inside. Shaking or jolting the power strip might have caused the hot wire to short to ground or neutral. The power cord wires are soldered to bus bar -- really just tacked on with solder. This one did not go through a lug or hole to contain the wire. If the bus bar gets hot - the solder could soften and increase the chance of arcing, a short or fire.). Incident: "Hoteam 10 Pcs Power Strip Bulk 6 Outlet Surge Protector Power Cord Electrical Extension Cord with Switch Low Profile Plug Flat for Home Office(4 ft,White) Amazon 6 plug power strip, has unconnected HOT wire inside strip that can be intermittent, or short to neutral/ground. The power strip does not have a UL or Intertek label, has stamped on it a 15 Amp max capacity, while the Amazon says 16A and 1500 watts at 125V. The internal bus bars are too small to handle 15Amps and would likely get hot and disform. Fortunately the HOTEAM manufacturer choose to use a plastic that's good to 1300F+ Silly, because these would likely have caused a fire long much earlier. Or if triggered injury because of the loose wires inside. The wires are not screwed or crimped on to connectors -- but soldered with potentially a low temp solder. I took pictures!!!
