I was lying in bed nursing my 6-month-old daughter when the device caught fire without warning. The explosion ignited the pillow under my head, singed my partners arm, and caused a fire on our mattress. My infant was mere inches from the battery when it exploded. The resulting fire caused visible burns to both myself and my partner, singed one of our dogs, and filled our bedroom with smoke and toxic fumes. We lost our only bed, our infants crib (now smoke-contaminated), and multiple baby items, electronics, and clothing. The smoke and chemical exposure affected all five of our children, requiring medical evaluations and exposing our household to serious health risks. This was a catastrophic failure of a consumer electronic product that could have resulted in fatalities. Immediate and thorough investigation is necessary to prevent this from happening to other families.
