Government / agencyIndexed Oct 16, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240418-29DE3-2147339704. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Mr Heater Mhvfrd30lpd (The product is a Mr. heater, ventless liquid, propane, fueled wall or floor heater). Incident: I had a vent free wall mount Mr. heater that was fueled by liquid propane. I had used the unit in my home for about one year so it was relatively new. On Tuesday evening, April 9 around 8 PM. I heard a loud noise in the kitchen, and when I got to the kitchen, flames were shooting up the wall and across the ceiling. The relief valve on the unit was somehow compromised and the flame and gas was spewing up the wall. I immediately turned the gas off at the floor and the fire went out. There was only about five seconds that transpire between when I heard the noise and when I turned the gas off. If I had not been in my home, or if I had been asleep , the damages wouldve been much much worse. I would strongly recommend not using any Mr. heater products. I I believe the house wouldve caught fire within a few more seconds of that heater exploding.
