SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20231030-AD3CF-2147344302. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: BaByliss BF7000 (BaByliss PRO Rapido Blow dryer Model BF7000). Incident: BaByliss PRO Rapido Blow dryer I'm a cosmetologist. I bought this dryer about six months ago from SalonCentric (professional distributor of beauty products). I work only part time so it had not been heavily used. Within six weeks (at work) it was plugged in but not in use. We smell something burning and smoke is coming out of my cabinet. This dryer was hot, smoking from both ends and glowing red inside. It was NOT on. It was simply plugged in. The store replaced it with the same model. I purposely unplugged it every time I left for the day. Yesterday, I plug it in while getting ready for my day. I never turned it on, simply plugged it in. About an hour later, while doing a haircut, we start smelling something burning and the same thing. Smoke pouring out of my cabinet. It was hot, smoking from both ends and hot. IT WAS NOT TURNED ON, only plugged in. There are several reviews on the distributor's website basically saying the same thing. This could have caused a fire. This could have set someone's hair on fire. This product is dangerous and a fire hazard. Work location where it happened: [REDACTED] Seal Beach CA 90740 The PO Box listed is my personal address
