SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20111018-78C4F-2147474193. Matched catalog product: Cub Cadet Z-Force 44 from Cub Cadet. Source model text: Cub Cadet Volunter 4 x 4 off road vehicle. Incident: I contacted Cub Cadet about a problem but never heard back so I am reporting to you. We own an expensive top of the line off road 4x4 called the Volunter that I think has a serious design flaw in the door. The entire door design is a bit odd as the hinge is mounted on the rear of the door allowing it to swing backwards from the front as compared to how a normal car door is hinged from the front and swings forward.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20190609-6911D-2147380512. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Cub Cadet Z-Force 44 from Cub Cadet. Source model text: Cub. Incident: Upon finishing mowing our yard with our cub cadet mower, it backfired and the engine caught on fire. The entire mower erupted in flames within a minute or two. We were unable to extinguish the flames and the mower burned down to its frame. It is a complete loss. The lawn mower came with a three year warranty and should have been covered, however Mtd products representative requested that we file a claim with our homeowners insurance. Our deductible is too high, therefore we could not file a claim with our insurance

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 22, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20150903-2ED9A-2147428761. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Cub Cadet Z-Force 44 from Cub Cadet (Cub Cadet Z-Force Riding Mower Gas Tank Black part number 01004350). Incident: I had a gas leak coming from the bottom of the gas tank on my Cub Cadet Riding mower. The gas tank is held on by four bolts screwed into the tank from underneath the gas tank. The tank had several cracks around one of the bolts causing a slow leak and fumes of gasoline in my garage. These fumes could have been dangerous. A fire from the fumes could have burned my house down. I contacted Cub Cadet and asked if the manufacturer had a recall on the gas tank. The technical support department said no recall on my product. My incident number with Cub Cadet was [REDACTED]. I explained that their is a design defect in the bracketing of the gas tank. The vibration of the machine caused the cracking on the bottom of the gas tank. All Cub Cadet would do for me, was to sell me a new gas tank. I believe the tank should have a rubber cushion washer under the tank to prevent the tank from cracking and causing the leak. This is a poor design and potentially dangerous to anyone with this machine.
