Government / agencyIndexed Oct 22, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230408-DF4BC-2147348212. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Cuisinart SS-10. Source model text: Model SS-10. Incident: I am an adult and have a one-year-old Cuisinart SS-10 Premium Single-Serve Coffeemaker. When used, my ground fault circuit interrupter trips and the coffee maker smells like burning rubber or plastic. This has happened several times within the last week. I suspect if left unattended or if I continued using the product, a fire may occur or damage to my household electrical system. Fortunately, no one was injured. The coffee maker was placed on my indoor kitchen's granite countertop.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 16, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230329-5048E-2147348404. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Cuisinart SS-10 (Cuisinart Coffeemaker Model # SS-10 Serial # 3621). Incident: I purchased a Cuisinart/ConAir coffeemaker and it was about 6 months old. It was brewing a cup of coffee on 12/16/2022 and it made a loud noise and started to burn. It quit working and I unplugged it and took it outside. I contacted Cuisinart/Conair customer service and they asked for me to send it to them for evaluation. After, a few months they did send a report/email stated that there engineers determined that there was an internal issue in the machine. I asked for a refund and I had to replace the GFI outlet because that tripped when the machine shorted. They were not very helpful, and did finally refund the cost of the machine, but not the GFI outlet or repair costs. This was a dangerous incident and it did smell of something burning in the machine. Luckily, it was plugged into a GFI outlet and may have prevented a potential fire. I think that the US CPSC should be aware of this dangerous product that could cause fires. UPDATED ON 4/20/2023: [The risk of harm for the product below was fire and or shock due to the short circuit while operating and smell of something burning. I immediately unplugged the coffeemaker and took it outside. There was a short circuit and something burned internally on the product. This was while it was operating under normal conditions.]
