SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20230306-B2EA0-4129848. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire LEFEF3018TBA (Electric range with oven). Incident: 2/15/2023: The bottom oven element caught fire and the fire was so strong that it burned a whole through the ovens metal bottom floor. The oven may have been in use for 2 3 minutes and set to approximately 350 degrees. The consumer initially noticed a very bright fire through the ovens window. The consumer immediately turned the oven off and the flames died out on their own. Due to the speed of action by the consumer, damage was limit to the oven. He has not contacted the mfr, but has seen different videos on [REDACTED], about these ranges catching fire. He is further extremely concerned, because the flames burned through the bottom metal portion of the oven. The consumer noted that the cook top is still working. Therefore, the problem is limited to the oven in his instance. NOTE: He has never had any problems with it in the past. 4/4/2023: I contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer referred me to their factory authorized repair technician. I asked to speak with their technical/engineering dept. I was told they do not have one. It could not be ascertained that there will be future serious over-heating problems due to the hole in the bottom.
