Government / agencyIndexed Oct 16, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180829-C3BEC-2147385878. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire PLEC36S9ECC (Smooth Top range). Incident: An eye on by electric stove came on without being turned on this past Saturday 8/25/18. This happened before and was repaired as a recall in 2011, at that time I asked that it be replaced due to it being a fire hazard. That was not an option, I reluctantly agreed to the repair. I was assured the repair would correct the issue. About one year later the stove came on without being turned on, again they would not agree to replace the stove. It was again repaired that it was a permanent repair and it would be safe. So after this weekend when it again came on without being turned on I again asked that it be replaced with a new design/model because there is no way I can risk believing the fix would work. The only option was to have it repaired as a recall a third time or I could have a 20 % discount on a new one. I will not ever trust this stove again and will not have it repaired. They risked my house and family because they would not do the right thing. Now they tell me since my stove is appx 10 years old they will not replace it. I said if it were design correctly or repaired correctly I would not be having this issue. Their original design and their retro fit fix was a band aid to drag it our far enough that they think they don't have to do the right thing. Frigidaire Model PLEC36S9ECC
