SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20181017-752C2-2147384956. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: GE C2S986SELSS (C2S986SELSS GE 30" Cafe Series Slide-In Front Control Dual-Fuel Range With True European Convection And Wifi Connect- Stainless Steel). Incident: Issue = no ON indicator light for gas burners on this model = fire hazard C2S986SELSS GE 30" Cafe Series Slide-In Front Control Dual-Fuel Range With True European Convection And Wifi Connect- Stainless Steel most gas ranges have an ON indicator light when the gas is turned on. This unit does not. the flame burner has been left on accidently now 3 time in the 5 months we have had this. If you are using a low flame to simmer, it is almost invisible. If the pot is removed and the burner is not turned off, it will likely be missed. Once, the gas flame was left on for several hours and we were lucky it did not cause a fire. The back splash wall was very hot when we discovered this. All gas ranges I have use in the past had an indicator light next to the controls that would alert us the flame was still on and gas was still on. We did not notice this flaw / hazard when we were looking for a replacement slide in oven range. I sent GE an alert and they would not post my comment. A 10 cent neon bulb would have made this and excellent range. My wife and I are very careful when we cook, however, this omission is a real fire hazard. if it happens again, we will likely replace this with a safer brand. For $3k, I expect something safe.
