SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210304-FD0B6-2147365538. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Kenmore Elite 79036603601 (Slide-in gas range 30" Kenmore Elite 2006). Incident: Electrical Fire. Kenmore Elite gas range slide-in 79036603601 Electrical fire in board which destroyed the control board and inside of the oven is severely damaged. The oven would not stop heating up and heavy electrical fumes came from operating board. Could not turn it off. Had to pull out the (slide-in) range to unplug unit. Good thing my husband & I were in the kitchen when this happened. Sears wants to 'replace' the board from 2006 range - under their extended warranty although still researching to find part(s). I am very concerned with safety issues and won't trust this range ever again. At least once a week, I set the delay function to come on when I am not home - I wouldn't want to think of what would happen if we had not been home. Sears does not seem concerned with the safety issues from this range - several other occurrences I saw on line - same problem. They will not address the issues or the damage. Cannot believe this range has not been recalled! Thank God, no injuries.
