Electric Ranges or Ovens (Excl Counter-top Ovens) (278)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 28, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260417-EA537-2147320485. Matched catalog product: Kitchen Aid Model KSGG700ESS3. Incident: I had a package sitting on top of my electric KitchenAid stove. I was out out of the room when all of my smoke alarms started going off. I went downstairs to my kitchen to discover the package on top of my stove in flames. It still seemed small enough that I doused it with water. It was confusing because I had not used the stove for several days. I noticed the burner was bright red, and also noticed that the oven was on, set to bake. I had not turned on nor touched either function of this stove/oven unit for many days. I turned the burner knob a couple times until the burner went off, turned off the oven, finished dousing the burning package with water, then moved the unit and unplugged it.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20220620-49F33-2147355496. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Kitchen Aid Model KSGG700ESS3 (Stainless steel, gas range, Kitchen Aid, Model KSGG700ESS3 Series RA4313151). Incident: In December 2021 I purchased a replacement gas stove, convection oven from Pacific Sales. The range was a replacement unit for a faulty [REDACTED] range. January 2022 noticed the unit front panels were stained and the self-cleaning feature did not work, now, baked on stains cannot be removed. February, noticed that unit did not heat properly, took 1 hour 45 minutes to roast cauliflower and still unevenly cooked. April 2022, warranty company came out to assess the problem. Determined control panel was wrong, and, that the warming drawer facing was defective. They replaced both. June 2022, while baking on 350 degrees F, after 25 minutes the front glass panel exploded. Warranty company and Pacific Sales contacted. Tech came out to service the Kitchen Aid. Said that he needed to order a new door and temperature control panel so that he could do a complete diagnostic assessment. One week later, came back only replaced the glass. Said that he did not need to replace the temperature control panel, and did not give a rationale. After he left, I used the oven and, noticed that the kitchen was hot, and the adjacent wood cabinet was too hot to touch as were the adjacent stainless steel cabinet knobs. I have made three calls to the warranty company. They said that they would escalate to a field supervisor since this was a safety issue. Two days later, no one has called back. The unit is faulty and unsafe. A determination as to why the glass door exploded was not determined. I have been dismissed by Pacific Sales and, Paradise Appliance company.
