Reliability signal

—

5 confirmed failure reports · Early signal · Data confidence: Low

Early signal (5 confirmed reports) suggests shorter ownership before failure (typical 3 mo), but that is not enough data for a D or F grade.

Injury-related incident

Electric Blenders (215)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 28, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140728-A8A56-2147442472. Severity: Injury, Emergency Department Treatment Received. Matched catalog product: Ninja BL770. Incident: I went to use my ninja blender for the first time today. As I got it out to clean it, the blade fell onto my foot. The blade sliced deeply into foot, to the bone. I was bleeding all over and screamed for my sisters help. As she ran to assist me, she accidentally kicked the blade that was lying next to me, as she did not see it. This resulted in half her toe being cut off, and part of the bone. We spent most of the day in the ER. I got away with just stitches and a tetanus shot... My sister was referred to a plastic surgeon to get a skin graft on her toe. Maybe this company should consider putting a button release for the blade, considering it is sharp enough to cut bone.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20151114-DC9EC-2147426706. Severity: Injury, Emergency Department Treatment Received. Matched catalog product: Ninja BL770. Source model text: BL770A. Incident: I received the Ninja Mega Kitchen system blender as a Christmas gift in December 2013. As I unpacked the box and tried to take the 64 oz blender out of the box, I couldn't get it to release from the styrofoam. I pulled up on the handle not knowing that it was a locking mechanism. As I pulled the blender from the box, the top pulled off and the bottom of the blender fell away while the chopping blade fell out. The chopping blade lacerated the back of my leg, severing my sural nerve. My leg was operated on and an attempt to reconnect the sural nerve was attempted. Unfortunately, I deal with the pain daily from the injury almost two years later.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20140907-77BB2-2147441146. Severity: Injury, Emergency Department Treatment Received. Matched catalog product: Ninja BL770. Source model text: Ninja Blender Mega Kitchen System 1500 # BL77030. Incident: While cleaning the Ninja Blender I poured the warm water soap solution out (as indicated by the directions) at which point the blades fell out of the blender hitting my right hand creating deep lacerations across my middle and ring fingers. This immediately caused loss of control and sensation in my ring finger. I was taken to the emergency department for medical treatment, I have since been under the care of a hand surgeon who was able to surgically reattach my tendons, though I may have some permanent nerve damage. This product has caused me a great deal of unnecessary pain and suffering. The Ninja blender product design is flawed and needs to be removed from the market to prevent any future injuries.

Product safety incident

Food Processors (275)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 28, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130730-25ED0-2147453590. Matched catalog product: Ninja BL770. Source model text: BL770 30. Incident: I purchased the Ninja Mega Kitchen System 1500 8 Cup Blender in June of 2013. Recently I decided to use the food processor for the first time so I removed it from the box. After removing the plastic wrapping and the sticker from around the food processor I pressed the lid release button that holds the lid to the food processor on. The lid wouldn't open up easily so I tried to use both thumbs to apply more force to the release button. As I did that, the lid came off, the food processor fell on it's side on my kitchen counter, and the food processor blade came rolling out of the food processor, right on top of my left foot. I immediately fell to the floor, with intense pain (as I could no longer stand up) and my kitchen floor became covered in blood.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 22, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20160314-1526B-1560752. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Ninja BL770 (Blender Ninja Professional 1500 watts). Incident: Consumer stated that while the blender was in use for approximately 5 mins, he noticed sparks emitting from the bottom right sight side of the blender and there was a burning odor. He then noticed that it had developed into a black smoke. He immediately unplugged it and remove it outside. He had the blender for over a year and there was no prior incident. The manufacturer was not contacted as yet. Consumer feels that the blender is unsafe and should be reported. This incident with Ninja BL770 occurred today while making a smoothie. Ingredients being processed: 3 medjool dates 2 bananas Mango Coconut flakes Dried lime Dried lime zest & orange zest Quart of cold water Because the consumer had brought the dates about an hour before starting to make this smoothie, they had not been soaked. Thus, he ran the blender on high speed for a couple of minutes to emulsify them with about 4-6 ounces of cold water. Then added the bananas, dried lime sections, emulsified them on high.2-3 minutes. Next, added the flesh from a decently ripe mango and a little more cold water. Emulsified on high 1-2 minutes. Added remain of the cold water. Blended medium less than a minute. Tasted. Decided not thick enough. Pour out most of the smoothie to allow him to blend-in coconut flakes. After starting the flakes to blend, decided to add dried zest (lime & orange). Added those ingredients; started blending on high. Because he had not ground the zest before adding it to the smoothie, the consumer figured he needed to run the blender a little longer than he would have otherwise. It had been running 2-3 mi
