SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210425-787C2-2147364523. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Rubbermaid Easy Find Lid Glass Storage Container (Rubbermaid square glass bowls, similar to the attached link, did not have the lid on it. Roughly 2 cups, approx 6 inches on a side and 2-3 inches high. I bought the set at a grocery store at least 10 years ago. Model Easy Find Lid Glass Storage Container [REDACTED]). Incident: I had this set of 3 bowls by Rubbermaid. They are thick glass and rather heavy. I primarily used them in the microwave and they were supposed to be okay for that. I wash my dishes by hand. The medium sized one that holds about 2 cups was in the drainer as I had washed it the night before, so over 12 hours earlier, and I picked it up to put it away. As I moved it, it exploded more or less. I did not drop it, I was gripping it due to it being somewhat heavy for its size. Then there were bits of glass all over, and in my hand was just a handful of broken glass bits. The glass bits were over the whole kitchen floor, in both sinks, on the counters, the stove, the bathroom, the coffee maker, the cat food bowl, the living room . . . . There were a few sharp bits, but most of them were little clumps. I did get a few cuts, but not like what you'd think from that much glass.
