SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180713-D9ED4-2147386815. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: Whirlpool WFG715H0ES0 (Whirlpool Gold Series Gas Range Model # WFG715H0ES0). Incident: In December of 2016 our family received emergency medical attention due to carbon monoxide poisoning as a result of high wind back draft in the wood stove that had been properly installed according to manufacturer instructions in our home. The readings near the stove were over 400 ppm the day we got sick according to the local fire department's instruments who had responded to our call. That prompted a friend to lend us a professional grade carbon monoxide detector made by [REDACTED], so we could monitor the levels with detailed accuracy and find a solution to the problem. As a result of having this detector in our house we discovered that the LP gas oven range we bought in January of 2016, a Whirlpool Gold Series model WFG715H0ES0, was emitting carbon monoxide. The CO level was measured at 9 ppm on a day that we did not have the wood stove burning. From that point on, we monitored the levels when we turned the oven on. The levels reach their highest point when we operate the oven in the 350-400 degree range, the most common baking temperature. The levels will jump up to the 70-80 ppm during the initial heat up and level off at about 17- 23 ppm. We contacted the store where we purchased the range from and Whirlpool gave them their own calibrated carbon monoxide detector to test the oven. However, the test was very controlled and not based on normal use. The oven was placed on 500 degrees and their detector was then used. It was never tested at the 350-400 degree Fahrenheit range where the problem was most pronounced. We operate our oven nearly everyday for at least 2-3 hour
