Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20110424-04E8E-2147479834. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kenmore Kenmore model no. 790.80323310. Source model text: Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash Dishwasher. Incident: I own a Kenmore Elite Dishwasher, Model: 665.16283400. It was purchased in 2005 from Sears. I have had to replace the circuit board three times, each time it blew out. The last time, last week, shortly after I started the washer, I heard a sizzling/clicking sound, saw smoke and it smelled like burnt electronics/wiring. I immediately opened the dishwasher and the smoking stopped. I called a repair person who showed me the burnt out circuit. However, if I hadn't been home or even in the kitchen, I'm afraid the dishwasher would have caught on fire as I have read so many others of this brand/style have. This problem with the circuit board cannot be fixed by simply replacing the circuit board which is what Sears did the first 2 times it blew. Now, I must pay again for a defect in the dishwasher - something that should have been recalled long ago. They are selling a very dangerous product. Please don't wait for children to die from a fire for you to do something about this issue. Thank you.
