Source model text: 79577563600. Incident: lights in top of refrigerator will not turn off even when refrigerator is closed. lights burned all day. when we returned to home in the afternoon, smelled burning smell. found it was coming from refrigerator. lights were so hot, they had melted the plastic cover surrounding them and light sockets had turned brown. top shelf of refrigerator was so hot, all food on it had to be thrown away. called Sears and spoke to [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] stated I would have to pay a service charge just for a technican to come out to see if my refrigerator is involved in a recall. I commented that Sears has manufactured a product that is unsafe; the defect in these refrigerators can cause a fire and injure/kill someone. I asked does Sears not "care about its customers". [REDACTED] replied Sears is a corporation; it doesn't have feelings. Sears is not going to do anything about this problem unless it is mandated to. I urge everyone affected to report this unsafe product.
