Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20110524-1CEA7-2147478886. Matched catalog product: KitchenAid KITCHENAID KUDS30IXSS4. Incident: On Sunday, May 22, 2011 I bought a KitchenAid 12" countertop toaster-oven from Target in Peoria, IL. Got it home, set it up, plugged it in and set it for 350 degree Bake. Less than 4 minutes later, I noticed a strong burning smell. When I looked through the window into the oven I saw that it was ON FIRE!!!! My husband came into the kitchen when I screamed. He quickly unplugged the oven and took it outside of our home, setting it on a brick walkway. It was several moments before the flames were extinguished.
