Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20110625-0AAD7-2147477861. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: GE Model PDW 9700J11. Source model text: GE Profile Quiet Power 7. Incident: We bought a new GE Profile QuietPower 7 Dishwasher Model # PDW 9980N00SS approx. three (3) years ago that recently started to melt all hard plastic dishware and is getting extremely hot to the point that it is causing the very thick granite that it is under to not be touchable. We only use the "Heated Dry" cycle and have never used the "Added Heat" cycle. Also we only use dry tablet detergent and have never used liquid detergent in this new model, so I think GE has a much bigger dishwasher problem than they are letting on, by trying to blame it on liquid detergent. Also this is a new model that has not been on any prior list of overheating problems.
