Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20110628-842CB-2147477762. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: HP dv7 (Pavilion laptop). Source model text: Pavilion DV7-1232nr. Incident: HP DV7 Laptop overheats to the point where it can cause burns. The laptop eventually heats so much that it destroys the CPU so that the laptop is dead. I contacted HP a few months after buying it about the overheating issue and they told me it was normal and there was no issue. I have called several times over the past 2 years as the heat made the laptop malfunction and now completely die. It is now out of warranty and they refuse to fix it or admit that there is an overheating issue. They claim that any over heating is due to the programs I use. But it begins to overheat before it can even reach the login screen.
