Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20110720-6EB35-1192483. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kenmore 790.92303010. Source model text: 790.95322303. Incident: The consumer says she used the self cleaning feature and now the outside top of her oven door is browned. The consumer is concerned that the oven may pose a fire hazard. She says that she has never used the self cleaning feature before. The consumer contacted the retailer who offered to send out a service technician for a fee. The consumer says it may have been on self cleaning mode for about 2 hours. The consumer says the vent in the back of the stove was not venting well and caused puddles on the top of her stove due to poor condensation inside the oven. This occured while the product was under warranty so it got repaired. The consumer says also that when she first received the oven she hit the self cleaning feature by mistake, while she had food in the oven. She pressed off and it would not go off. She contacted the manufacturer who took her thru a process to get the self cleaning mode off. The consumer says that there should not be a self cleaning button next to the off button. The consumer is not happy that no one is willing to help her. She just got a new floor installed in her kitchen, as well as a new dishwasher and the browning of the oven door mars the newer look of the kitchen.
