Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20110821-D488E-2147476049. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Weber Weber Spirit E-310 (Weber Spirit E-310 LP gas grill, model number 4421001). Incident: Purchased a Weber Spirit E-310 from Lowe's in the spring 2011. This commentary is being written in August 2011. I was grilling today and walked away for 3 minutes. The cover was closed. When I returned, the entire grill, grates and everything--were on fire. It was contained internally under the lid, but part of the grill that was on fire was close to the propane tank. Many of the internal parts were scorched from the heat. If I had not returned within a couple of minutes, the fire was significant enough to potentially burn the grill, cause an explosion or touch the house. ...feeling dumb and lucky.
