Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20111010-0091A-2147474474. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kenmore Kenmore Elite Dual Fuel Model 790.xxxx. Source model text: ELITE. Incident: We purchased our Kenmore Elite refrigerator in June 2007. Within a month we started having issues with the model. First the waterline was found to be leaking, it ruined the floor and cabinets behind the unit. Then about two months later we noticed that it was warm, and cold in the refrigerator. Upon closer inspection we realized the lights had melted the plastic housing and created massive warping and melting of the inside. The Sears store sent a repair service person, and they replaced the unit. Now, 10/10/2011, the unit is doing the same now. The light stays on, but only shuts off when it gets overheated. We still have hot food. We had to remove the bulbs today. I really hope that Sears wises up and fixes this problem for good. There needs to be a recall on this very dangerous appliance.
