Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20111026-48753-2147473934. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Char Broil Char Broil Patio Bistro Gas (LP) Grill, Model 126015 Series. Source model text: 463250811. Incident: On July 23, 2011 I purchased a CharBroil RED 4-burner infrared grill. Within two months of purchase, the labels for the settings of the burner began to peel off. Now three months later, the labels are nearly totally removed. This has created a SERIOUS safety issue, whereas it is becoming very difficult to tell if the burners are on or off. When I contacted CharBroil, they concurred that there was an problem with the grill. Their answer (case [REDACTED]) was that I could pay to have new parts shipped to me and either I could install them or I could pay someone to install the parts for me. When I refused to pay money so I could fix the defective grill they closed the warranty claim and considered it resolved. This is unacceptable for a grill with such a serious safety defect that is only 3 months.
