Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20111030-74F16-2147473796. Severity: Injury, Seen by Medical Professional. Matched catalog product: Anchor Hocking Anchor Hocking 1-cup Glass Measuring Cup. Incident: I partially fried chicken thighs before attending parent/teacher conferences and I placed the pra-cooked chicken in a glass Anchor Hocking baking dish. I was gone for approx 1 hour and 45 mins. Upon returning home, I preheated the oven to 300 degrees and started to prepare the side dishes. Once the oven beeped to indicate that it was heated, I put the dish of chicken in the oven. After about 20 mins I reached into the oven, grabbed the dish and began to pull it from the oven. As I lifted the dish off of the oven rack, it exploded. I turned my face to avoid injury but I was hit in the chin and mouth with flying glass. My upper lip was cut and my lower lip and chin are burned. I went to urgent care and was given a Rx for antibiotics and burn cream and received a tetanus shot.
