Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120104-AA043-1223050. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: DeLonghi EW7707CM Safeheat 1500W ComforTemp Portable Oil-Filled. Source model text: EW6507L. Incident: On Tuesday afternoon, November 22, 2011, at approximately 3PM, the Delonghi oil-filled heater in our sunroom exploded, spraying hot oil over at least one half of the room. The explosion came without any warning. My husband was in the sunroom at the time, we heard a loud "pop", the heater sprayed hot oil on the windows, the trimwork and across the sunroom floor. My husband's immediate response was to unplug the heater from the outlet, and I gathered towels to try and absorb the hot, steaming oil that was rapidly spreading across the floor (the floor became so slick it was difficult to take a step).
