Matched catalog product: Rheem Performance Platinum Electric Water Heater - XE80T12EC55U0. Source model text: MR85245 B. Incident: I recently purchased a Rheem 85 gallon Marathon Water Heater. The thermostats from the factory were defective and had to be replaced because the thermostats when set at 120 degrees would run as high as 135 degrees which caused a burn to my 2 year old. I ahve been four thermostats from the factory and everyone has been defective. The heater will still run in the 135 degree range unless the top thermostat is shut off.
