Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120319-1F2D4-2147469141. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Char Broil Char Broil Patio Bistro Gas (LP) Grill, Model 126015 Series. Source model text: Red Urban Infrared Grill Model #463250210. Incident: The gas regulator on my Char-Broil "Red Urban Infrared Grill" (Model # 463250210) failed. When I opened the valve on the propane tank, gas started leaking out very rapidly. I turned off the tank, disconnected the coupler, re-connected the coupler, and the same thing happened (I was checking to make sure that the coupler was connected properly). The grill was purchased in June of 2010. The original regulator (Char-Broil part number G352-3500-W1) was defective straight out of the box (same issue of gas leaking when the tank valve was opened). Char-Broil sent a replacement part, which has now failed less than 2 years later. The failure of this part allows propane to leak out very rapidly. If the grill was on when this happened, there would be a serious risk of fire or an explosion.
