Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120412-AFC6B-2147468481. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Electrolux Model PLEF398CCB. Source model text: PLEF398CC. Incident: My wife turned the oven on to heat it up for cooking and after a few minutes we heard a loud pop and smoke came from the under side of the control panel and it smelled like electrical fire. It tripped the breaker when this happened. We were in the kitchen when it happened. We called a repair service who came and checked the unit and determined that the circuit board has shorted out and informed us of recalls on this product. After calling the recall number they informed me that this was not covered by the recall but they would send the "kit" to fix the problem that is covered under the recall but were not liable for the problem we are having with their product.
