Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120417-998C2-2147468357. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Weber Genesis. Source model text: weber genesis 330. Incident: I purchased a Genesis 330 by Weber. I had the same problem as another incident previously posted by another consumer. The knobs on this grill are so light to turn on that when you put the cover on, they turn on by the weight of the cover. This caused the leaking of gas. When I called the companyIi was given a detailed explanation on how to correctly put on a WEBER cover to avoid this problem. I was told I had to hold out the cover so the cover did not touch is sensitve knobs. To me these knobs are a danger waiting to happen. I was not told by Weber that this had been reported previously by a consumer. When I called to ask about this I was told that they knew nothing about the other complaint. I find it hard to believe that a consumer would write a report to you before calling Weber as I did at least 10 times. So, I am wondering if this is a problem that does not comply to safety standards or whether this could create a hazard that the compnay should tell consumers about. I think this should be investigated.
