Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120427-F9F00-2147468073. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Samsung Samsung NE589500SS. Incident: I came home from work one evening to find my Samsung 46" TV base had exploded all over my apartment. There were shards of glass all over my apartment as far as eight feet. I was so baffled by how this could have happened I decided to do some research online only to find that this is a common (or more common than expected) occurrence. The only consistent thing I have seen in YouTube vidoes and other photos is the common exposure to sunlight. The TV was off and has no damage. The core of the base is still intact and thankfully there was no one around when this happened. If someone were within the range of the debris there could have potentially been serious injury from what I can tell. This is very hazardous and I think it is Samsung's responsibility to follow up on this sooner than later before someone really does get hurt.
