Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120522-861AD-2147467360. Matched catalog product: LG LG Gas range, Model LDG4313BD. Source model text: DLGX2502W. Incident: The safety concern is on an LG Steam Dryer -- model #DLGX2502W purchased in February of 2010. The first incident was in February of 2012, where I smelled a gas leak. After confirmation from a gas professional that the leak was not in the line or at the connection, we called an appliance repairman. The leak was at one of the valves. It was replaced and there was confirmation through testing that there was no further leak. 3 months later we smelled gas again. The valve has already burned out... new theory is that there is a defect in the control board that is causing the valves to burn out. A video demonstration on youtube (link attached) demonstrates EXACTLY what is happening to my dryer (this is the exact same model). THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD.. THE WAY THE DRYER IS OPERATING IS TO RELEASE GAS BETWEEN THE FIRE CYCLES. I called LG again (5/22/12) and they claim that there is not a defect (without even bother to investigate my claim or without speaking to my repairman that can provide exact details) and that NO ONE else has called regarding this issue. I find this EXTREMELY hard to believe for 2 reasons: 1) there is a youtube video that documents the issue - filming exactly what I'm seeing in my dryer, and 2) replacement control boards for this model are on back order from LG until June 2012... indicating a part that is in high demand
