Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120625-97528-2147466279. Matched catalog product: Kenmore 665.13543N412. Source model text: 665.17033403. Incident: I purchased a Kenmore tall tub dishwasher in 2006. It recently developed a leak. I looked closely at the tub and observed water dripping from underneath. I looked inside the tub and there is (what I thought was food stains) a burnt spot directly under the heating element on the left side of the unit. This burn has created a noticeable crack in the tub and that is where it is leaking from. I have searched various web sites and came upon your report on these dishwashers being recalled for the motor catching fire but donot see anything specific to the heating element burning the tub. I have found several other consumers complaining about the same problem on various repair forums. My dishwasher is a KENMORE MODEL# 665.17033403, SERIAL# FT2210139.
