Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120731-78349-2147465210. Matched catalog product: Kenmore Kenmore Elite Dual Fuel Model 790.xxxx. Source model text: Kenmore Elite Dual Fuel 7907938. Incident: I have a kenmore elite dual fuel range model # 7907938. It is about 5 years old. Tonight while making dinner I preheated the oven and moments later I heard an electric crackling sound and smoke and flames were coming up from behind the top of the oven. My fianc had to grab the fire extinguisher and put the flames out before the cabinets and wall caught on fire. After the flames were put out the control board was completely blacked out and the oven no longer worked. Luckily we were in the kitchen when this occurred or we may have lost our home. After researching online about this issue, I have seen numbers complaints of the same exact incident with this model range. I have yet to see any recall of this product. How many complaints have to be reported in order for this to be recognized as a manufacture defect. If this issue is not addressed someone may loose their home or worse, a loved one.
