Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120924-428D0-2147463451. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Amana Amana 30 inch Electric Range. Source model text: white electric range Amana big oven 5.1 c. Incident: My Amana big Oven door melted in clean mode. After I turned it to clean the oven locked and the surrounding outer top and door became extremely hot though unaware of the magnitude of damage until 3 hours of cleaning the door unlocked and an error message blinked where I turned the oven off. Even with the unusual smell and fumes that filled the kitchen there were no signs of what was happening until I opened the door. If I were not at home to keep an eye on it, it would have caught fire.
