Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120927-64F87-2147463348. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Sony NP-FX110. Incident: Sony DVD Rechargeable Battery Model Number NP-FX110 over-heated. Inside the battery case, one of the two [REDACTED] 3.7V Lithium Ion Battery Cells Model Number 5548135 swelled without bursting the protective metal jacket that protects the lithium ion batteries from the air. However, the swelling was great enough to burst the exterior, plastic, protective-case of the NP-FX110. Fortunately, the lithium-ion battery did not burst when my children tried to squish the battery case back together. Had the lithium-ion battery burst when squished, it may have caused a fire.
