Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20121108-28DDF-2147462113. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: LG LRE30757ST. Incident: I own a LG Electric Range, model number LRE30757ST, mfg in 2009. I bought it from Best Buy. One 11-6-12, I set it to self clean. I noticed a smell that was worse than I have ever smelled when using the clean feature, it smelled like burning rubber, and quickly the house became immersed in the smell, even though we opened all the windows. It also burned my throat after awhile. I stayed outside, and soon began to smell the fumes coming out of the house, even though I was sitting quite a ways from my sliding door that was open. I have used the clean feature before, and it has never gotten that hot. It would have caused serious burns if someone touched it without knowing, it seems to me there is no need to lock the oven in clean feature, if the rest of the range is as hot on the outside, as it is on the inside. Today, 11-8-12, I noticed a recall on this range, (Release # 13-031 dated 11-8-12) so I am submitting thi
