Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20121111-25FB9-2147462053. Matched catalog product: Shark S3501. Source model text: S3501W. Incident: While using a EuroPro Shark steam Pocket Mop, the steam channel melted and became clogged. Upon inspecting the unit as to while it was not functioning and releasing steam, the mop head exploded away from the unit, and steam was release in an uncontrolled fashion. Luckily, no one was hurt, but the steam jet was about 1-2 feet in the air as reflected off of a tile floor. Any hands in the way would have been scalded and burned. Small pieces of the melted plastic steam channel had broken off, and were found on the floor after the steam had finished releasing. If the mop had been pointing up as opposed to at the floor when the explosion occurred, these may have become projectiles.
