Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20121221-4A501-2147460802. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Whirlpool Model #wrf767sdhz 26.8 cu ft 3 door French door re. Source model text: Whirlpool Range. Incident: I am reporting this for my 87 year old father who is a disabled (wheelchair bound) WWII Vet. He had a Whirlpool range in his house, which he had for years. One evening recently he was using one of the burners on the top of the stove on a medium temperature. As he was approaching the range, in his wheelchair, to check on the food he was cooking. The glass front on the oven door exploded. Glass was strewn everywhere! Thank God he was not hurt. Since the oven door was close to his eye level in his wheelchair, we are thankful that he was not blinded!!! He was shaken up. He called the Fire Dept. since he was home alone. They made sure he was okay and cleaned up the glass for him.
