Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20121223-B1284-2147460736. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Frigidaire Electric Range Model FFEF3054TS. Source model text: fpef3081kf. Incident: We purchased a Fridgedaire electric range model number FPEF3081KF seriel number VF11236101 on July 4, 2011. Tonight, the control panel caught on fire! Thankfully, my husband was in the kitchen at the time or else it could have been tragic since we have a home with four young children. There was no food on the stove, nor was anything burning in the oven. The oven was on at the time, but there was no fire in the oven - it was strickly confined to the control panel. This range is out of warranty since it is over a year old; however, my husband says he would not want it back in the house anyway due to the obvious threat to our home and children. I looked online and saw that many other models were part of a recall, but this was not one of the listed models. I believe that this product is dangerous and needs to be looked at closely.
