Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130102-8B7FA-2147460350. Matched catalog product: Kenmore 417-93142200. Source model text: 417.90862991. Incident: The product of concern is a Kenmore washer / gas dryer combination machine. While using the clothes dryer function of the unit, the unit caught fire internally in two areas located near the gas blower that was unaccessible to be cleaned for excess lint build-up by the consumer. The first area was the area housing the gas discharge and the second area is a few inches below that. Additionally, although this unit was already present in the home when I purchased this house, I had located an online version of the unit's user manual and I didn't see anything listed about consumers having to take the unit apart to clean inside the machine to prevent fire.
