Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130104-42A7A-2147460244. Matched catalog product: Kenmore 795.77563600. Incident: On Christmas Eve 2012..Our Kenmore Trio Refrigerator started a near fire in our home! The lights inside the fridge got so hot they started to smoke and melt all the plastic surrounding the unit....even with the doors closed. If I had not been home from work our house would have burned down for sure! The fridge got so hot it was like opening an oven and it was SMOKING and smoldering and melted all the plastic in the light fixture! The technician is here now saying this happens in 1 out of every 10 refrigerators of this model! I do not like those odds!!! That is a 10% chance of your house catching on fire!!!!! Why isnt Sears being pro-active on this! No one notified us of this problem and I registered this product when we bought it! Isnt that the purpose of registering a productso that you are notified of any recalls?????
