Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130117-DEE5B-2147459754. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Frigidaire EFMIS175-BLACK. Incident: While using my oven on 375 degrees baking cookies on the first incident and corn bread on the second incident, the oven switched over by itself from bottom coil(Oven) heating to Broiler(Top coil) heating and burnt the cookies up and the corn bread up. With baking the cookies, I had already baked one sheet of cookies and removed them and placed the second sheet in the oven and closed the door. While I was removing the first batch in a separate room, I smelled something burning and saw that the broil was on and the cookies burnt to a crisp. It scared me so bad. That happened probably around November of 2012. Then a couple of weeks later I was cooking corn bread and the same thing happened. The oven switched from bake to broil by itself. I have to carefully watch anything I bake now. I have probably used the broil only 3 times since we bought it new in 2007 when our house was built.
